Awesome! It was low-key, but still good. I saw my immediate family and I got some unique gifts like a NatGeo Atlas of the World book, a bracelet containing references to the biggest ethnic samples I got on my DNA test, and some Congolese wooden figures.

That is one way to describe it. That’s kind of you to say that. I remember you saying you were Nigerian. That’s awesome. I’ve been watching a lot of African movies over the past year and I’ve reviewed some Nollywood movies as well as Nigerian animation on Iridium Eye.

You’re welcome, Aizen! This was my first Nigerian movie review and I’m really glad you appreciate it. Despite some of the issues in this movie, I thought this lowkey destroyed African stereotypes while not making a big deal about it. Even though I’ve never been to Africa, I know the continent isn’t just safaris, huts, or poverty, but Western media never shows the positive side of the continent. Positive representation matters and it’s one thing I look for in so many international and domestic movies I watch.
